How to export Google Maps results to Excel or CSV

By ULeads team · Published · 6 min read

Google Maps has no button to export search results to Excel. You can copy listings by hand, save places to a list and download it with Google Takeout (names and links only), use a scraping extension (against Google's terms), or use a tool with official data access that exports CSV or Excel. ULeads does the last, on paid plans.

Why can't you export Google Maps to Excel?

Google Maps is built for finding places, not for building lists of them. Search results load as you scroll, there is no “download” option, and Google's terms for Maps do not allow extracting its content in bulk. So every route to a spreadsheet is a workaround, and they differ a lot in what you end up with.

What are the options?

How do you export Google Maps results with ULeads?

  1. Search a town and a trade — for example, electricians in Valladolid.
  2. Optionally narrow the results: only leads, only businesses without a website, or a minimum Lead Score.
  3. Choose Export and pick CSV or Excel. The file contains every business from that search, highest score first.
  4. Or save the businesses you want to your pipeline over several searches, and export the pipeline instead — it adds each lead's status and next step.

Exports are part of the paid plans: 30 a month on Starter, 150 on Professional, 500 on Agency. You can download an example export to see the exact format — the rows are fictional, the columns are real.

What columns does the export contain?

Export columns
ColumnWhat it holds
NameThe business name as listed.
CategoryIts main Google Maps category, such as Plumber or Barber shop.
AddressThe full address.
PhoneInternational format, so it dials correctly from anywhere.
WebsiteThe website on the listing, or empty when there is none.
RatingAverage star rating, or empty when the business has no rating yet.
ReviewsNumber of reviews.
PhotosNumber of photos on the listing.
Lead Score0–100, higher means a weaker online presence.
Why a leadThe weaknesses behind the score, e.g. “No website · 3 photos · 12 reviews”.
Google MapsA link to the listing, to check it before you call.

What should you do with the spreadsheet?

Sort by Lead Score, filter the Website column to blanks, and you have a call list of businesses without a site, best first. The “Why a lead” column is the opening line of each call — “you have 12 reviews and three photos” is more useful than “do you need a website?”. Add your own columns for status and notes, or keep working in the ULeads pipeline and export when you need a copy. The cold calling script shows how to use the reasons on the phone.

Common questions

Can you export Google Maps search results directly?

No. Google Maps has no export button for search results. You can save places to lists, and Google Takeout can download those lists, but the file contains each place's name and Maps link rather than its phone, website or rating.

Does a Google Maps export include email addresses?

Not from ULeads. Google Maps listings rarely show an email, and ULeads does not collect personal addresses. You get the phone number where it is listed, the website, address and a link to the listing.

Can I export on the free plan?

No. The Free plan includes one search a month and saving to your pipeline; exports to CSV or Excel are part of the paid plans, from 30 a month on Starter.

Will the CSV open correctly in Excel?

Yes. The file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so accents and non-Latin names display correctly, and phone numbers are written in international format exactly as listed. If you prefer, choose the Excel (XLSX) export instead.

ULeads searches a city and a trade on Google Maps, keeps going past the first page until it finds real prospects, and ranks every business by how weak its online presence is.
