How do you find businesses without a website near you?

Google Maps is the one place almost every local business is listed, but it ranks the most prominent ones first — and prominence nearly always comes with a website, plenty of reviews and photos. Scrolling the first page of “plumbers near me” mostly shows you businesses that already have everything.

The ones without a website sit further down and in smaller areas. So search your town and a trade rather than a single business, keep going past the first page, and split a big city into districts. ULeads does exactly that for each search: it keeps fetching results, splits thin markets into smaller areas, and marks which businesses have no website.

“Near you” here means the town you type. ULeads searches by city, not by distance, so to cover an area you search each nearby town in turn.

How many local businesses don't have a website?

Fewer than you might think. In September 2026 we measured thirteen searches across different cities and trades: of 248 businesses, 11% had no website, and 25% had at least one weakness worth approaching them about (no website, fewer than 5 photos, fewer than 20 reviews, or a rating below 4.0). Some searches had none at all in the first twenty results.

Depth changes the picture. In one example, a search for barbers across Moldova showed no business without a website on its first page; searching deeper and by smaller areas found 77 barbers, 19 of them without a website and 23 worth approaching. The method is in our measurement guide.

Can you get a list of local businesses with no website?

Yes. Every search gives you a list you can narrow to businesses without a website, sorted by Lead Score so the strongest prospects are first. You can save businesses to a pipeline with notes, and on paid plans export the list to CSV or Excel with these columns:

What the list contains
ColumnWhat it holds
Name, Category, AddressAs shown on the Google Maps listing
PhoneInternational format, where the listing has one
WebsiteEmpty when the business has none
Rating, Reviews, PhotosFrom the listing at the time of the search
Lead Score, Why a lead0–100, and the weaknesses behind it, e.g. “No website · 3 photos · 12 reviews”
Google MapsA link to the listing, to check it before you call

If you need a specific list — say, businesses with no website and few reviews across several towns — the list guide shows how to build it and what each filter can and cannot do.

Is there a free way to do it?

Searching Google Maps by hand costs nothing but time — about a minute per business to check and copy. ULeads' Free plan gives you one full search a month, up to 100 businesses, with the ones without a website flagged and everything ranked, without a card. You can save leads on Free; exporting them needs a paid plan.

Do the results include phone numbers and reviews?

Yes — the phone number where the listing shows one, the number of reviews, the average rating and the number of photos, next to the address and website status. No email addresses: Google Maps listings rarely include them, and ULeads does not collect personal data. For local businesses the phone is usually the quicker way in anyway.

Which kinds of businesses most often have no website?

Hands-on trades that live on phone calls and word of mouth — plumbers, electricians, cleaners, garages, barbers — especially in smaller towns. City-centre restaurants, hotels and dental practices are usually online already. Each trade needs a different pitch:

Is a business without a website a good prospect?

Often, but not always. The best ones have customers and nowhere to send them: steady reviews, a decent rating, a phone that gets answered — and no website. A business with no website, no reviews and no photos may not be trading at all. That is why ULeads ranks every business with Lead Score instead of just listing them, and shows the reason next to each one. What to say once you have found them is in how to get web design clients.

Common questions

Can I search by distance, such as within 20 miles?

No. ULeads searches the city or town you type, not a radius around a point. To cover an area, search each nearby town — each one is a separate search.

Which countries does it work in?

Anywhere Google Maps lists local businesses: you type a city and a trade in any country. Results are only as complete as the listings in that area.

Is ULeads a Google Maps scraper?

No. It does not scrape Google Maps pages; listings are requested on its servers through Google's official access to Maps data. ULeads is not affiliated with Google.

What do I need to start?

An email address or a Google account. The free plan runs one full search a month — up to 100 businesses — with no card. Saving leads works on Free; exporting to CSV or Excel is on paid plans.

ULeads searches a city and a trade on Google Maps, keeps going past the first page until it finds real prospects, and ranks every business by how weak its online presence is.
